What's New For 2026?
For the 2026 version of the GMC Canyon, some thoughtful new additions can instantly turn heads wherever you go. First, there is the Nightfall Essentials Package, offering black-accented wheels, tires, and badging for the AT4 trim, along with new standard 18-inch gloss-black wheels on Elevation and AT4 models. If you're a true off-roader, then you'll like what the 2026 GMC Canyon provides for its users. More specifically, it has made off-road-focused accessories such as a boron-steel AEV-spec underbody skid plate and a lift kit for the AT4X available. You'll also have the option of door sill plates. These features give off-roaders some more customization options.
Real World Performance
While Canyons of old offered multiple engine choices throughout the range, the current model narrows it down to a single, yet solid offering. The 2.7-liter TurboMax packs quite a wallop for an inline 4-cylinder, delivering an impressive 310 horsepower while offering a blistering 430 pound-feet of torque. Whether you’re towing your favorite bass boat, hauling gardening supplies, or tackling the usual everyday commute, the 2026 Canyon offers ample power to get the job done. An 8-speed automatic transmission helps put power down to the pavement. With four selectable drive modes to choose from, you can also control how that power is transformed into motion. The AT4X even offers a special drive mode, Baja Mode, that’s tailor-made for high-speed off-road driving.
Choosing the Off-Road Suspension Package with select trims gives you a 2-inch factory lift. However, the AT4 and AT4X up the ante with a plethora of off-roading enhancements, from special dampers and a more aggressive factory lift to front and rear electronic locking differentials. The 2026 GMC Canyon also gives you awareness of your surroundings with up to 10 available camera views.
